Husky 357xp oil leak

Just a thought.

 

Is it actually leaking, or is it just draining down from accumulated sawdust under the clutch cover?

 

In other words, does it still leak when its clean?

 

Also, if it is oiling a little too much then there will be quite a drain from the bar groove.

 

I have dozens of saws through, of all makes and models. Most leak. The wooden top of the storage bench will never rot!

When I had my 357 ( just sold it got a 560 ) it did the same . Not enough to investigate but just enough to be mildly irritating ! Every Wednesday I would stand it on last weeks copy of motorcycle news . ( old inca tric )

On the one pictured in the link, the chain tensioner had worn a hole in the oil tank that was repaired by JB weld, I also put a little green pad on the top of the rubber pipe that takes oil to the bar.

 

Fitting and clamping a bar in place, clamps the oiler between inlet and outlet pipes giving a sealed fit. leaving the bar off may cause some seepage! It is also worth checking the breather is clean to stop the tank pressurising when brought from cold to hot and vice versa
