Having just got back from a Romanian adventure i thought I would add a few special fungi that ive been wanting to see in the flesh in their true environments, these are not common in the U.k but can be found occasionaly. In Romania they where as normal as Trametes or Ganodermas are here, and I only found a couple of Ganos in the whole trip, G. applanatums. Fommes was also abundant, but by far the most common of the big brackets where Phelinus igniarius and Fomitopsis pinicola AKA the red banded polypore.

Pycnoporus cinnabarinus on Prunus avium also possibly T. ochracea (white)

Possibly Trametes ochracea

Where is this Romania thread, need a phungi photo phix!

Was the trip all play or work too? Looks nice, kind of reminds me of the Slovenian countryside; where there schnapps made of pine cones, nuts, fruit or whatever else happened to be available brewing on every doorstep!?

ha ha yeah schnapps everywhere! even walnut liquir which was the nicest one out of the lot. look up sloth, theres a few from the trip here!

Had a little bimble about today, well it ended up as a bimble! was driving through hillingdon, saw a couple of fung roadside and some nice trees that said mmmmm theres going to be others round these parts. Sure enough, not a stones throw, a park "Hillingdon Court Park" well worth a look if you have time. The first five images from Burnham Beeches today, the rest from Hillingdon (London Borough)

The boss was away in France today so we cracked on and scampered early! which left me time for a mini bimble, best was a walnut i saw with an aged and black hispidus I was passing and thought I would have a peek, thats another job done, walnut with Hispidus done! Also decided to stop by an Oak Ive been having a gander at as I pass by for five years, sat in a field with all the body language of Inonotus dryadeus, ha, darn if I aint the don! bingo. lmao You can just see the old fruit bodies of Dryadeus in the last shot.
