Time for some new trousers ... Oregon Waipoua??

Decided its time to get some new trousers for climbing as I've had some basic stihl type a's for over 2 1/2 years now, though I will keep them for grounding as the toughness of them is incredible, only 1 cut about a cm long but that was my fault with a handsaw. Just a bit restrictive and hot for climbing and I know I should'nt really climb in type a's anyway.

Anyway to the point ... after seeing people in some at the south east rec climb last weekend and was told that they are good, does anyone else on here have any feedback about them?

Been tempted by the revolutions but these seem a bargain!

Can't justify pfanners as I don't yet work full time nor the hiflex, which seem to disintergrate after 6monthes anyway :laugh1:

I got a pair of type A Waipoua's about a month ago because of the unseasonably hot weather we had up here . I wanted something light and reasonably priced and that is what they are .

What they are not is climbing trousers .... No where near enough stretch in them if you are serious climbing every day ( which i am not ) .

Looks like my Hi-flex will be out more than i would like so i regret not paying the extra money to get something better :001_smile:

I disagree. I have type A Waipoua which I find light, durable and comfortable, and easy to climb in. With trousers this thin and light you don't need any additional and expensive stretchy material.

Why would you not have stretchyness and lightness ? :001_smile:

They melt too easy. Got holes in both legs, straight through all layers and my skin within a couple of weeks. Wouldn't agree that they're particularly tough, got small nicks and tears all over very quickly too. Comfortable and lightweight, drying quickly. No leg pocket which would be useful as hard to use others with harness on. Probably wont buy another pair. Ok for money I suppose.
