PTO logsplitter problem

After 1 hour of working, my splitter gets very slow:thumbdown:

Can Y fix that, i think the oil is getting hot.

Well sounds like that your problem right there.

Yup. sounds like the pump is burnt out. Works fine when the oil is cold and thick, but as it gets warm, the oil gets thinner and it slips through the worn pump. Running it faster just excaserbates the problem. You will need to flush the system through as it will now be full of the disintegrated internals of your pump..

we run ours in 1000, we pic the tractor off of tickover as opposed to running at 540 and higher revs. after 15 years of use the gaffa says it's hs most reliable bit of kit.

I run mine on tickover at 1000 gives the same shaft speed as high revs 540 but stalls easier and uses less fuel

 

Like I said earlier, change the oil and filter first before starting to fault find, if you drop the oil out and find bits in it then you know it's something else.
