As always fascinating to see your work shots Willem.

Lifting frames/slings?..assuming they did not have go too far on those trucks or you would have lost most of the soil around the roots, and you would have wrapped them.

Thanks again for posting.

Sean,

Good to hear from you. Has been a long time ago. Any transplants carried out down under?

The Fagus was with a lifting frame. The two Tillia's were lifted with an ironbar through the stem and slings. This because we are at the end of the season and stemlifting with slings is too dangerous. Especially with Tillia.

They were moved 5 kilometers. The rootballs were very compact because of preparation. No soil lost on the way to the plantingsite. The soil next to the trucks is from loading the trees on the truck.

Was the preparation below ground or above? and what did you do?, its good to hear about stuff like this, was it Civic who moved them?

The preparation is above and under ground. We dig out 50% of the rootball and rape it in plastic. Then the tree gets aftercare for a year, watering and fertelizing to stimulate rootgrowth.

It was not Civic who moved them. Who is Civic. Most of the times we use the same crane company. The are very experienced in lifting trees.

Price? me thinks 20k per tree, prep removal and replant plus after care. how far out am I ?

If think you are talking about the trees on the trucks. Help me with the numbers? Your talking about 20.000 pounds or dollars, so in total 40.000 for two trees ? Contact me right away I'll come over transplant the trees and we both make a nice profit. For 15.000 pounds I can organise a treetransplant (two trees) as in the picture in London and make a profit. The big trees I can move for a little more than about 18.000 pounds in London. I'll bring eveything form Holland including our men, crane and trucks. The price includes preparation and aftercare Smaller trees the price goes under 1000 pounds.

If we can prep the tree and have aftercare succesrate is more than 95 %.

Let me know when i can come over.

Yes its been a while for sure glad to see things are still going well for you (I really liked your proposal in a post above to travel to London to do some moves for them!:thumbup1:)

Hopefully we might be involved in a very short move 20/30m of a Ficus (30-40Tonnes) coming up in a few months, but as I know you know its almost impossible to get the proper (required) prep done here - we don't get contacted until it is a month or so before the trees have to be moved...on this project however the aftercare should be covered.
