Asulox/Asulam For Bracken

Recommended Posts

May I direct you to the Bracken Control Group website. This Group has been established to consider all bracken management issues, but the final trigger was the ban of Asulam (Asulox in its most common form).

The website has details about the status of the ban and what the Group is doing to maintain a supply of asulam while the application for re-registration of the chemical for bracken control takes place.

Asulam may be banned, but there is a route that we are following to maintain its availability through a series of 120-day Emergency Authorisations. There are many unknowns, but for the moment, you should plan on asulam being available.

Please contact the Group through the website if you would like to know more.

Fantastic thhank you

Just thought I'd let you know that grazon 90 is also on the way out. As of november this year it is no longer possible to buy it. It then needs to be used up the following year. What are you doing woth your left over asulox? I can safely dispose of it for you if required.

Regards

I've had a lot of success with a bladed roller - I know this isn't as convenient as spraying, or as effective as chemical treatment (when done properly!) and isn't practical on all sites, but it can achieve good results.

I'd keep quite about that dean, as your customer probably shouldn't have hold of the chemical, unless he just got it within the last few days. It should be used up or handed back to supplier by October 2014. Also, if it's way out of date, don't bother applying it, as it does not work efficiently, anyway.

Could be wrong, but I think that's how things stand with asulux at the moment.

As mentioned their and your possession of Asulox is illegal. But it will be on sale from the 19th May this year for a short period. Its not £300 per gallon but about £70. It needs to be fresh and to remain legal be used up or returned by October 2014.
