Asulox/Asulam For Bracken

Correct on the price I was looking at the 20L price.

What is the logic behind the legal possession windows that appear.

It's all to do with asulux being banned by EU. Something to do with its use on spinach I think. This had an impact on the uk, as asulux is by far the best way to control bracken. Therefore, it is legal to use for bracken control only, and within certain dates. Somewhere between May and October, roughly.

It may be also something to do with ground nesting birds judging by the time scale.

It really does annoy me that instead of trusting individuals to police themselves, they feel the need to control stocks in such a fashion. To me, all it will encourage is to either people hide or hoard stocks or pour the remainder down the drain rather than going to the trouble of handing smaller quantities back in or not and breaking the law.

Its very harmful to ferns and watercourses. So there is an exemption for bracken only which gets repeated each year. The timing isn't to do with anything other than that is the time it is effective against the storage rhizomes in bracken. So you can use it that season only but not keep it for next season. So none of us would do that would we??

I bought several gallons of asulox 1970's to control large patches of bracken.

I used the last of it around 10 years later,it still seemed to work so maybe the modern stuff has a shorter shelf life?

Today I went to have a look at an area of head high bracken that I treated in August last year. Wow. Not a head of bracken present at all. I'm amazed at just how effective it is from backpack spraying. Will definitely use it on other areas. Expensive to buy but brilliant value.
