What a stupid thing to do. Screws up everything, just to get votes. Many thick people think it's a good thing to lower taxes and hence will vote for lower taxes, but things have got to be paid for somehow............

And for 2.5% if it was 10% it might make a difference, 2.5% is just stupid with all the admin that goes with it

Hoping to go back under the VAT threshold next year!

Just printed 1000 price lists, need to change the website, the invoicing program, all the price labels in the shop etc etc...

I thought of you the instant this was announced because of your price list thread.

Could you not just print some stickers out to slap on catalogues and but a header on your website to save all the admin.

This is a pointless step just more admin for small businesses.

I've posted out 1000 already the machines show prices with and without VAT so people should be able to see that. All the other item such as ropes, harness, oils etc...etc.. are priced with out the VAT anyway.

For every £500.00 spent you save £12.50 only if your not VAT regesterd is it worth it for all the hassle i don't think so.

And they say this will kickstart the economy!

I`m affraid £12.50 off a £500 item is hardly going to sway anyones decision is it?

Just utter madness.

I did notice on the news lastnight one guy on the street who was interviewed, said he would buy a new TV and computer games on the money he saves this xmas. Just goes to show how much the hipe can mislead people, I mean, come on, how much do people really think they are going to save?

One thing i did notice with the new tax changes was that VAT reductions will be until the end of 2009, but, it will be paid for in parts by increased income tax, duty on fuel, tobacco and alcohol etc but these increases will be PERMANENT!

£12.50 off a £500 item

multiply that by 60 million people in the UK = £750,000,000 back into the economy.

As they say in the US "do the math"

These measures announced are not really intended to help you "Joe Bloggs", but more to help the overall UK economy...................
