You have somehow managed to make your statement sound soooooo wrong Geoff!!!!

 

I never knew fig was a toxic one. Sumach, hogweed etc etc yes, but not fig. One to watch for sure by the sound of things.

 

Laughed at that one!

 

At my age the sap dont run so well.:biggrin:

I'd like to point out hat I'm neither ginger nor fragile :o)

 

Normally I just brush alergies off, unlike the Mrs who comes out in a rash at the thought of a pine tree. Needless to say we havent had a proper Christmas tree for years.

That's unfortunate. My Mrs is quite happy with a Pinus.

Thing is I have done figs before and after and only had the reaction the once...

 

Maybe it was the particular time of year or the fact It was a hard reduction and the tree bit me back!

 

The reason for that may well be that you will never have an allergic reaction the first time your body gets exposed to an allergenic. The immune system needs "priming", after which it may respond with an allergic reaction. (... says my wife, who is a consultant MD).
