Bird house thread

I was asked to have a crack at making a bird house....

 

Here's the first attempt. It wasn't too bad to make and you could prob get pretty good cash for using really just off cuts of wood. I'll be asking £90-00 for this. Sounds a lot but it's pretty substantial. Took about 2 hours start to finish.

 

Base cross is oak - should have been a bit larger for more stability.

 

Gnarled apple upright - it's this that makes it different from the rest. Main table base oak, oak frame and redwood shingles.

 

Just wondering if anyone else has tried one? We're coming up to the time of year when people will start thinking of their garden again.

Very much like the attention to detail and particularly the individual shingles!

 

Also the little chimney! :biggrin:

Not very cost effective though, wouldn't know what to charge for one, it took a LONG time:001_rolleyes:

The chimney is the handle to lift the roof off. Scrap bit of copper pipe I couldn't bring myself to throw out:001_smile:
