TRADITIONAL LOGGERS

Having been a victim twice I am pleased to see at last some real action from the Police and Council towards these unlicenced waste collection places. Hope this will mean less vital metal vanishing from small business and those vehicles involved being seized.

Laws for buying and selling of scrap metal have been this way for years here in the States.

IMO the bulk of the sales for this activity can be directly linked to money laundering once all the legal outlets are no longer available to buy stolen material the activity will go further underground. It may help in the short term but as long as the prices are high enough to support the perps/buyers it will continue.

our local scrap yard as many already do so im told are stopping paying cash very shortly and are paying money straight into your account... i always give an invoice with vat on anyway so wont worry me... we average around 5-8 ton a month with metal/cable etc that gets picked from skips...

Wont stop it they sell it on the black market. To much money to miss out on. Reading in the paper the other week said they miss out the scrap yards stick it in containers an ship it abroad

That is correct and the $$$ is done by wire transfer and the wash cycle is completed:thumbdown:
