After another arson attack (5 acres of miscanthus) in the village where my workshop is a 17ish year old lad has admitted to the 3 offenses. I should be feeling jubilant but just feel sad. He's screwed things up for himself even more than for me. And if he goes to prison will he come out any better?

glad the little fecker has been caught. i don't think prison is right for him. he needs to learn how his crimes have affected the victims. a suspended sentance and LOTS of community service should suffice, not the usual doss they get away with - he should help rebuild your workshop!

Hopefully if he does do time or community service he'll come to you afterward and help you rebuild and learn something from you.

So the lad that burnt my workshop down, as well as 8 acres of miscanthus and also did 4 burglaries was in court yesterday.

 

 

The result? A 12 month supervision order which means that once a week he has to go into an office and say how he is being a good boy. No fine or compensation for anyone.

 

Am not entirely happy.

That's dreadful, how's that a deterent to stop him doing it again.

He's destroyed peoples property and livelihoods how is a supervision order going to help anyone.

Someone caught growing a small amount of weed for personal use will get a hefty fine, community service and a suspended prison sentance - compare that to this little buggger!!

Heartbreaking news, you must be devastated. I can't understand why anyone would destroy another mans work and property. Hope you get things sorted.
