ive got another crane dismantle to do first week in march a dead horsechestnut i priced almost a year ago. my question is my only experience with a crane is with a poplar which is a light wood. my question is how much more does horsechestnut weigh, ive told the crane guy i want 2/3 ton lift all the way to the furthest tip away. which means im getting the 55tonner in.

many thanks

James

You'll need to be careful. I had my anchor break out a couple of years ago. Probably the quickest rotting timber out there.

What Graham said. Try & keep branch walking to a minimum so not to overload your t.i.p. laterally. Perhaps work off the ball of the crane if your R/A & crane operators see it as a viable option

yer i always hate horsechestnut even when there alive they just stand and rot!

i dont no if i would get away with working off the hook, the crane company are really hot on it, wouldnt let me hang off it last time. unfortunatly but it depends what driver you get its a lottary really.
