i spent enought time waiting for fitters to come out to replace stuff to warrant hating too much electronics. used to drive a valtra that would short out the spool switches and tip and 18 tonne trailer whilst travelling down road....... joy

but that isn`t the electrics fault that is Valtra for ya!!!!

good electrics will last a good few years, i had a 6290 from new and it was fine but now hearing things that it is starting to mess about and it is 8 years old.

Electrics are good on new machines

Best tractor i've ever driven was a TW35,lots of grunt and a gearbox that once learned was as good as a powershift. On maize it ran rings around its younger rivals. When the going got wet it and the other big old bus (an MF) could drag their trailers as well as pushing the one in front!Good old days.

The ultimate for me is the 1884 that i put a set of tyres on a while back, just had to take it for a quick spin.:blushing:

the 86 series fords were good , i think the best and most reliable powershift box made at the time and maybe even still.

Am i right in saying it was a Funk gear box?

wouldnt totally agree. during maize 2 years ago i has an 820 axion and each time you changed gear the radio cut out!! forever had sensor problems from transmission and engine.

im happy with something that if i forget the keys i can take the dipstick out and arc the started motor out and at least do some work!
