Billets through processor?

I am going to buy a processor soon, I will also be getting a big horizontal splitter that I can load with the crane on the tractor. If I am splitting down to say 30 cm diameter billets can anyone recommend a good processor to deal with these?

 

My concerns are that the billets, being rough and unevenly shaped may cause problems for the saw on the processor and also may not drop evenly into the splitting chamber.

 

Does any one work this way and have you any thoughts?

Your skip man does tom, he splits big sticks with the splitter grab thingy on a 5 ton digger then drops them into the processor, go and have a look at his set up

Tom i use a palax tsve to cut billets , it does it very well

I use a 30 t horizontal splitter then the palax , have done it this way for around 10 yrs now with no problems

Posch very good even with oversize bits

I have sent billets through a processor, chain gets caught if there are any stringy bits. Mate has circular saw processor and doesn't have the same problem.

A friend has a posch 30tonne splitmaster and the cuts the billets on a posch cutmaster. the cutmaster is very quick and can sit behind a small tractor

hi,

i initially looked into running billets through a processor and even with various types viewed and used it would seem that the cut piece would generally fall side-ways into the splitting chamber. the cutmaster is rightly named as its so quick and like all posch stuff its well built. i would advise viewing a cutmaster at work before considering a processor. you'd be welcome to come view and have a go with mine if of interest.
