With reagard to my previous thread when removing the laural with suspected Phytophthora do the roots need taking out as well? or will it cause more trouble. been looking at my uni notes and at time not much info on Phytophtora root disease. i will be buring the branches:thumbup1:.

burn the lot if you can , as its bacterial (not really a fungi, but an oomycete, water borne bacteria) the fire will do a good job.

 

bacteria? are you certain, as I was under the impression it was more akin to the diatoms and closely related to the plants as apposed to the fungi or animalia:001_huh:

after a bit of reading it is not a bacterium, but a eukaryote, i think ive got it mixed with Pseudomonas sp. as they are bacterial.

 

Google the wrong thing? Haha

Re grinding the stump, look for signs of the disease and decide?

 

Re the disease, is removal the only treatment mentioned by the govt? If they are heavily advising / ordering these removals, to remove common soil borne pathogens, can that strategy succeed?
