I have one, bought it 4 yrs ago,(05 plates) it has been a good car, no problems with engine or anything else, and does not use as much fuel as the truck. Gets us around in ice/snow easily and drives on forest tracks every day. Not the most comfortable car on a long drive, and very small boot, if you dont need back seats you can throw stuff in the back with seats down. It is ideal for 2 people, 4 adults would be a squash, but kids ok.

I bought one for my wife a while ago, swapped it for a Disco because we couldn't get baby seats and push chairs in it.

I thought it was absolutely brilliant, bloody shame we sold it really, it was tragic. It was registered October 2005 '55' and little one was born in July 06 so I think we only used it for a year, then I bought a 300 Tdi Disco so it sat on the drive for another year before being PX'd against a TD5...

They're super little cars and brilliant off road... I'll see if I can dig out some photos of our one... :001_smile:

Brought a new one for my wife 10 yrs ago, totally reliable, put snow chains on and you have a 'mini -panzer but even without it's good off road. It's a real fun car to drive but not really for long distances + with being a short 4x4 the steering is sensitive over 60mph. A bit bumpy on tracks compared to my L200 full of gear. Makes a good second car , I tend to use it alot as I can park it easily and carry a fair bit for 1/2 the fuel of the L200 pickup.

To sum it up, would I sell it - never:thumbup1:

SWMBO has a 2000 model Jimny and has had it for about 5 years now. It's been great and has been fairly fault free. It needed the bottom pulley doign about 18 months ago (common fault on higher milers) and needed the crank and cam sensors replaced about a year ago - also a common fault but only a 30 min job to fit, Both jobs coming to a grand total of around £200 in parts but other than that it's just been usual wear and tear parts like pads, discs, exhausts etc.

They aren't the most comfortable, or very powerful, but they are quite a fun little thing to drive and are really not bad off road at all.

My mates wife made him buy one because she thought it was "cute". They both work in insurance and have no need for a 4WD. First chance I got when she wasn't looking convinced him to give it a go in the fields. Surprised how well it went, considering how soft the fields are around here. Think it's because its so light.

I have had my 05 one for about six years now,it has been abused to the extreme, brilliant off road if you are after getting 2 people & a bit of climbing kit to a job, great turning circle.

The reliability & lack of rust are beyond top notch,it is not a motorway blaster, but will get you there...one day,top speed about 90mph,happy cruising speed about 65mph.

Superb little car, mine is a keeper.

Rant over!:thumbup1:
