dont text!!! when assisting the climber when your his eyes and ears mate! in fact dont use your mobile till break time!!

Couldnt agree more. IMO using your mobile on my time as the employer is verging on sackable. Mine stays in the vehicle.

Be yourself, relax and dont push anyharder than you feel you can sustain for the full day, many young guys/girls coming in try TOO hard to impress, this is not good for you nor your boss. Efficiency comes with age and experience, as do stamina and the muscles, a sensible boss/crew will know this full well and wont expect you to keep up, if they do expect you to keep up they havent the time or patients to give you the start a collage leaver needs.

Remember that above, because if they slow down to show you the ways, they are investing in YOU, as long as it is seen you value that and are willing to put in the effort in equal measure you will go very far.

It isnt just the boss that gives up time to take on a collage student or newbie, the whole crew do, they will take slightly longer in order to give you their time, and the crew may well "test" you to see what your made of! take it all on the chin, they are just trying to see if youll fit in.

most important though, breath, and enjoy it, welcome to arb.

Make sure you are early at the yard, take more food and water than you think you will need and waterproofs if you have them. easy to survive day then.

Also bring an additional change of clothes that can double as work clothes if need be and leave your phone in your car or truck. if there is an emergency anyone can contact the company your working for, otherwise get use to working without. You will be better for it.

If you get asked to do something and dont know then ask. never do something you are uncomfortable with or dont know!! there is no such thing as a stupid question!!! A box of jam doughnuts for the crew at breaktime also!! lol
