Hi, I'm looking for the shaft for the cutter wheel and a set of the bearings. Can anyone help me by suggesting a cheaper place to get these items (rather than vermeer)or If they have any bits they want to sell me.

you can get an engineering firm to make you 1,

as for bearings try atlantic bearings leeds ,

The Vermeer parts although more expensive are quality items.

 

I have bought a few cheaper types of bearings in the past but they just don't last as long. That's not to say there aren't cheaper good quality ones out there it's just the ones I bought were crap.

 

As for the shaft as woodpecker says its an engineering job or a factory item. Unless you know an engineer they may want about the same cost for a one off item. Worth asking one though.

If the bearings have been spinning on the shaft then it would be cheaper to have the groove built up with weld and then re-ground back to fit the replacement bearings as they are normally a slopy fit hence the problem you have.
