Vegetarian/non-leather boots

Ok, I've been looking for a while now to no avail. Does anybody know of any non-leather lace up chainsaw boots? I’ve been using the rubber welly-type boots for ground work for the last three years and am starting to get fed up with them. Also, I’m looking to take CS38 and CS39 in the future and can’t use them for that.

 

I’ve heard rumours that there are a couple of pairs out there. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I looked extensively (was until very recently vegan for nearly 10 years) and there isn't anything. I started in wellies too, but they drove me nuts so I took the plunge and got leather boots a year and a half ago. It's a slippery slope!

I have friend who's a veggie, he buys shoes that are made in france, they are made from the leather of cows that died of natural causes.

 

Apparently there is a farm where the cows just live happily in the fields and when one dies, they rush out and skin it.

 

They are very expense and I doubt they make chainsaw boots, but I just thought it was interesting.

Cows are not killed for their leather, they are killed for the meat, if we all stopped using leather there would be just as many cows slaughtered as before. You can wear leather with a clear conscience, knowing that you are buying a product that would just be thrown away if it weren't needed.

Not that this is the area to discuss this, but leather supports meat production in a financial sense. And anyway, I oppose wearing animal skin for the same reason I'd oppose wearing human skin. Have just come across these gaters (Personal Protective Chainsaw Gaiters | Chainsaw Safety Protection PPE - Buy online from HobUK) which I could wear with a pair of non-leather saftey boots (with steel toe caps). Does anyone have any experience with them?

Not sure wood would stop a saw, if it did you really need to work on your sharpening technique

i dont mean to derail, and this is in no way meant unsensitively. are the glues and resins used in wellies and other non leather boots made from animal products, and if so does this affect you wearing them. i assume you choose not to wear leather as they are a product of animals, veganism?
