200t misbehaving

Evening all, trust your all well and had a good new year.

Before christmas I sent my 200t in for a service because the on/off switch was faulty (had to choke it to turn it off) ended up costing more than i thought, and since getting it back it just hasnt been right. its a pain to start, cuts out when on idle, and has mad the last few jobs a reel pain. any ideas what it could be please, if i cant sort it my self ill send it back to the place that REPAIRED it but its taking the out time to get it there that will be a problem.

Faulty on off switch is usually fixed by replacing a small piece of wire which costs £1.50 and takes 5 to 10 mins. Did they service it at same time?

they put a new ignition module in it so the on/off works fine but the other problems have started since i got it back. wish it did cost £1.50 lol.

Pretty much right - at the front of the handle there are two wires, one goes to earth from the handle and the other to the coil. The switch assembly is behind the rotary orange choke lever but 9 times out of 10 it is just a broken earth wire or one of the wires has come off the connector - a relatively easy and cheap repair.

 

The issues you mention may be a number of carb problems, it is possible that a simple tune will resolve the issues but could be a number of other less simple to fix ones.

 

If you get stuck, I am happy to take a look at it - choice is yours but guess the original dealer should try to put it right first.

the carb setting had been changed on the service for some reason so i returned to its factory setting, but that hasnt made any difference. cheers for offer.

If the saw was running but the stop switch wasn't working, I find it difficult to believe that the coil could be faulty - they normally die completely or you get issues when the saw warms up as the coil will warm up and start breaking down.

 

Have you checked the coil to make sure it is a nice shiny one - the cut out is a push on connector so this is unlikely to break as well - if it is new, they may have got the gap wrong - that may cause these issues!

normally the first fault you had is an easy fix, for the coil to fail on your saw which is pretty new really I find it hard to believe and think the dealer was making some fast easy money telling you incorrect info, I have had the same on a few saws over the years and its always a wire either breaking where its crimped to a connector or just pulled off somewhere out of sight. A quick strip would have found it. Of course I maybe wrong:sneaky2:

 

It's a bit like taking your car to the garage for a service, from then on it plays up:confused1:

When an ignition coil fails it prevents the machine from running, not from stopping. Failure to stop is common for the reasons mentioned here by others, i.e either of the two wires, quite easily fixed.

Carburation issues,however,are not uncommon on this saw and the problems may be coincidental to the repair.
