(excuse the spelling )The art too fencing is definatly efficiency and tools we do quite abit of agri spec fencing we recently baught a protech p18+ knocker for on the digger and made a wire roller for the quad allowing us to roll sheep wire and 2 strands of barb all at the same time , it saves a hell of amount of time plus a digger allows us to go vertualy anywer u want also rolling wire with the quad does not take 2 mins to roll 50m up hill down hill werever but as u all say there is no longer as much money in fencing anymore just gotta do it at the best price u can everytime but if we didnt have the tools we have ie the atv roller and digger i couldnt afford to be cheaper than other ppl

Post knockers on diggers are good because of the reach aspect over ditches etc but I do find they struggle with strainers in hard ground. I don't use strainers less than 7" in diameter so the lighter weight machines take longer to get posts to depth. We converted a normal masted knocker that went on the 3pt linkage to use on a digger which we use for tight access jobs on a 2.6 or 5 ton machine. When I was fencing vineyards in Australia we had a 32 ton cat 360 with a compaction plate on the end for putting in the tall vine posts and strainers, that was fantastic as you could reach 6 rows of posts at a time just by slewing.

Looks very good, Back in the Uk I used to take out a lot of conifer hedges grind the stumps then.....stupidly give the fencing away; I should have done it myself. regrets regrets.

we do alot of fencing we use a case maxxum 5150 with a bryce suma chapper and a 3 ton mini digger much faster for the we posts

We use a bryce Suma (400kg hammer) too with a case 4230, It does it though. Its a a choice between nimble or high capacity work rate. The bryce is phenomenal in work rate without all the backache of adjusting top links etc, and forcing the mast to stay put which I had to do with our old knocker. It doubled our workrate from 100 to 200 meters a day stock or post and rail. When good going

 

 

If entering the fencing game I'd find a specific area to specialize and get the gear for it. We have a nail gun (doubles rate from hammer) auger, wire spinners, tensioners long wood drill bits for gate posts and so on but you never seem to have everything you need, especially when you 1 st set up.

got another wet job coming up 2m clearence line ,over hanging trees , looking for a small protec p30 to fit on the holder for some of the straight bit's

wow- id love to have a bryce but unfortunatly don't get enough fencing to justify it, I find my mini digger one very handy for jobs tractor struggles to access but could do with a bigger weight as its only 100kg hammer on it. I also have a hydraulic auger, if its hard ground I pilot drill all the strainer post holes with a 4inch auger before knocking them in. works for me and can do 100m a day on my own which isn't too bad.

Yeah those p30 contractor models look very good and I think they can have up to 180kg hammer which will knock most strainers in. I would like one on the back of a alpine tractor but not sure how big the tractor would have to be to cope with the weight.

the one in there add with it on is quite small the p30 is quite small that is what it was designed for , one just like the big boy,s , i do belive it will take a 200kg hammer . Im like you at the mo the 190/200 i need to auger out or it takes forever if it's into dry stuff ,
