Hey,

I think I remember you asking questions somewhere about damage caused by livestock. Took these on the farm for you. Hope they're of interest.

This chestnut is the worst effected by a long way, the rest are all pretty much undamaged oaks, sycamores and field maples but the sheep (80+) favour this tree for some reason.

Who's this Mr you refer to ? :confused1::biggrin:

Thanks for posting the shots Dak, I'm just intrigued to see how trees heal & tolerate what is in most cases a constant stress & damage.

I would of thought a lot of damage is caused from where live stock take shade and then have a graze (first two shots in the Basque mountains), but then also some is probably as a consequence of releasing frustration where penned in (last shot a London city farm)

It would be very interesting (if you get the chance) to see what sort & quantity of damage is noted whilst you're out in the savannas & woodlands of Africa on your trip to climb the tall ones.

Mind you, you may have just been chased up one by an angry Rhino, and get to see first hand what damage they do to trees :scared::biggrin:

Cheers

David
