stihl 261's recall

I have been informed that there is a recall on 261's recently bought(about 3months) ago from FR Jones.

I didn't get this from the supplier or stihl.

Anyone else out there with problems - needle bearing in the clutch shattering being the recall apparently

worked for a company at the start of this year feb/march,doing some larch felling[p ramorum]they bought 5 brand new,needle bearings often going [plastic case does not help]

Apparently the first batch of the 261. the bearing was not central. this was causing scoring on the casing eventually the bearing to fail, Stihl will do all the work under warranty, Happy dayz 261 rule

I Know of three 261's, all bought at the same time and with very light use, that have gone back to the dealer with the same problem.

Poor quality batch of raw material apparently.

so what are the symptoms for this then? noise from chainbrake / clutch area?

Yes I believe so- I wasn't using it- one of the lads was on his cs31 unfortunately-

Mine was only bought last dec so far i have had no problems was it a large batch affected ,or only a few?

No mention of recall on the net so lets hope if not a recall then it will be a guarantee item:001_smile:

I bought mine in april and done a lot of timber with it and it is as good as gold
