well we felled 1 of them today all done and dusted was a shame it was a co do stem would have been abit risky trying to fell in a oner, but just trimming off the low branches to actually get at the main stems filled my transit with a big load of chip, then we felled it made a big pile into the 40yrd skip of chip i tipped off and then we filled landy and transit with wood and its practically all cleared apart from a little pile of logs and sweepings off it, bring on the other 1 tomorow :sneaky2: then back monday to do the final clearing up etc etc and all done thank god :thumbup1:

James, how do you find working the top of the hedge from the basket?

Last one I did, the first bit was great, working pretty much at toprail/waist height, but then having to raise the cage to move into the hedge we ended up working level with the bottom of the cage (through the bars). Not good.

Any tips?

Good job BTW.

if anything i try to avoid useing platforms :laugh1: but on this occasion i could get access both sides with the platform it was a thin hedge and i did half the tops one side then when i moved to the other side i did the remaining tops anything in no man land we hacked about with the pole hedge cutter, failing that just ram it into the hedge and hope for the best
