Good morning :001_smile:

This is a fungus on a Sophora japonic at college

Dead wood started appearing about a year ago and now these fungus' have appeared

Just wondering what they are. Supposedly the tree is worth quite a bit of £££

Thank You

Arran

good morning Arran,

with fruit body Id, you really need to present as much of the overall picture as possible.

Features like the stem, the gills, posible spore colour are all things that need to be considered to help with a positive identification.

With out the above references, I would suggest Pholiota as a possible.

Armillaria is also a genus (particularly at this time) worth considering.

Hope this helps.

There you go

Thanks

Arran

Pholiota genus I would say.

bit too desicated to be entirely accurate on species.

possibly P. squarrosa.

Did you see them when they were fresh.

Were they shaggy with lots of scales on top of the cap & on the stem ?
