Ever thought about a stump-grinder? Loads of small companies dont have them over here. Not sure about over there. Some of those that do only have small manual ones, so snookered when they get big stumps or jobs with loads of small ones.

couple of replies with possible interest. Most firms have chippers, but not so many have the tracked ones....... just need to find lots of jobs that are inaccessible for a towed chipper now!!!

Sorry to rain on your idea but Irvine plant who most people in northants use as a timberwolf dealer will hire a tw190 tracked for 150 a day or less for any longer

Good luck to you though, where in northants are you?

I have a mounted chipper and trailer on my tractor, i will not hire it out unless it goes with operator, and to be honest, i only get work for it as it will eat upto 9" stuff without blinking, i think the market for a tracked chipper around here will be pretty limited unless you are using it in conjunction with an arb business, hire companies can do it as they have a range of machines.

I think you may find it spends a lot of time sitting in your yard not earning but still depreciating.

Keep us informed if you get it as its always good to know where i am able to hire a machine if i need it.

As Rosey has said, your at the very top of the price range for one though.

Steve- don't want to be negetive but I don't think you'll find it viable full time or even anywhere near full time to be honest. I too have a tracked 150 and very rarely get hired out with it to local tree surgeons (they know about me) and my rates are cheaper then the ones you have quoted and im fully certified. Fortunately I get my own work for it where only a tracked machine will do. But the local garden machinery place hires one out without operator for cheaper and most companies in need for a tracked machine take that option.

Also If i were you I would be VERY reluctant to hire it out without operator, it WILL get abused. If you have the money to spend I agree with others that a stump grinder will probably get you far more work just of the back of the machine.

Good luck.:thumbup1:

Or, What about a mini digger if you want a machine to hire out with or without operator, you'd get alot more work of this, plus you get various attachments as you go along to enable you to offer more services. You won't get huge money but probably alot more regular. Easy work. pretty indestrucable machines too unlike chippers
