ANybody tried that new emulsion from Oregon? looked very neat...

Dont like the look of it Ed, you have to shake your saw before using it if you left oil in the tank for a couple of days. Although they've been using emulsion lubricants in manufacturing for years.

Been using veggie oil for about 4 years with no ill effects on the saws - About 2 years ago you could buy veggie oil in litre bottles from Tesco for around 60p per litre, now its over £1.00

Might try the Asda smart price engine oil - 94p per litre sold in 5 litres cans.

You jest surely Tim? Dumping a coupla litres of engine oil on daily basis, into the environment, over your skin, into the air you breathe woudnt be too clever. But then perhaps you just seek a reaction? hardly a comment I'd expect from such a H&S guru as your good self :001_tongue:

The oil came out the ground, I'm just putting back where it belongs. :001_smile:

Anyway, I've done my bit, been using tesco veggie oil for years now while all youse guys have been using mineral oil.

If you can find me cheaper veggie oil I'll use it.

Joking aside, I know a woodsman who uses his old hydraulic oil in the saw to get rid of it, and that was on a site where bio-oil was specified, yet as he said "who knows anyway?"

Is it an improved version of the Bio stuff they made available about some years ago?

I tried it ( bought 50 litres cheap at the APF) and it went rancid in the drum and made everything yukky and stinky.

I tried it in the mixed form a few years ago, like you say it goes rancid. I just wondered about the new method of small batch mixing

ive stopped using veggie oil as chains on my top handle started snapping. gone back to stihl oil and no chains have snapped since. veggie oil has rocketed in price, its a false economy imo.
