For £200 I wouldn't be done with hassle.

Yes there's the principle of the thing but I feel I would put my efforts into making money, instead of trying to get such an amount back.

I agree have lost twice and know of others the same. It will cost you more than 200 with court fees etc and if she starts lying as happened with me it becomes very stressful as you may end up with a judge who sides with her?

I've already filled out the claim online. It cost me £25, which if I lose I can live with. Its completely principle to me... I'm not saying £200 means nothing, but I'll end up having to take a day off work and it will lose me more than that.

Also it wasn't a big job. We took down 4 20 foot cherry trees. And removed loads of shrubs. More one of those annoying jobs that something which breaks your back. However people are so so quick to slate any sort of tradesmen when they act like muppets, how about having a show about non payers and crappy customers and shaming them.

Had to get a County Couty Judgement once before, which was a waste of my time and money as the guy turned out to be a serial limited company starter.

For £200,I would just return the chippings nice & early on a sunday, preferably when the weather is wet & horrible,I find itsurprising how a lot of these small jobs can generate a couple of loads of chip!

I've ofter wondered about doing this. I've got a debt owing for a few days of hedge reduction/trimming in the gardens of a million+ house (anyone else find that it's the richest that think they can haggle/shaft you).

But whats the come back from tipping chippings/hedgecuttings. Could you get done for fly tipping as it's not the original waste that was removed from their grounds? What do you think the Police responce would be when called? The last thing I want to do is to be made to clear up the mess made infront of the people that owe me money.

Just forget about it and move on. In the last 7 years since I started on my own I have had to write off about £1400, that's out of about £650k.

It's not worth wasting money and time chasing any bill under 2.5 k.

Go see them face to face and ask for the cash.

And don't get personal. Are you going to court because you want the money or because you want to get back at someone who has hurt your feelings, and insulted your work ethics.

Ahem...

I know of a chap, who when owed several hundred euros by an absentee second home owner, just sprayed off the garden with glyphosate.

I don't condone such behaviour but can also truly say that I have done the small claims route and find petty cold revenge attacks far more satisfying than the stress of even a small claims hearing.

Sodium chlorate wrapped in tissue and thrown onto lawns.

A spray of diesel on car windows with a potato up the tail pipe.

Dogs mess wiped onto door handles.

AND... nappies stuffed down drains (they swell...)

Oh happy days....
