When using a hitch climber i used to clip the hitchclimber higher up on the spliced eye (about a foot) for long ascents, know what i mean.....? Can the same thing be done with an sj and so you could then use an ascender and pantin set up but problem being having it too high and not being able to reach it to unclip into regular work position. make sense?

Would it not mean the ascender was pointless as it wouldn't go up very far without hitting the bottom of the sj? Otherwise you'd have to put it much further away? 2ft perhaps?

I've always found a pantin on it's own does the job on ddrt, hand ascenders are a bit cumbersome considering the 2' pull/1' gained scenario. I may have to try it out again though...

With the pantin on I usually let my leg do all the work, one hand on each end of the rope, for stability and upright-ness more than anything. The other leg I swing for a bit of momentum and to stop me spinning

If your other leg and hand are vacant I'm guessing you're talking about when covering a reasonable distance? Maybe worth an srt setup to maximise efficiency/reduce fatigue/speed things up?
