Free Deer Management

Almost anyone could pass DSC 1. It does not and is not designed to teach you about deer management.

The advanced stalkers or managers course is a very different matter. It shows you how to manage a deer population.

This is true. However it is the only paper qual I have and it shows I am competent (arguable I know) when it comes to culling. I'm 2 deer out of the 3 for L2. My management knowledge comes from the apprenticeship I served with an estate stalker, of course I could brag about how many deer I have shot, and how far away they were I suppose, but that really isn't my style. :001_smile:

I am not knocking your qualification, I feel it's only a matter of time before DSC 1 & 2 will be compulsory!

Good luck with your L2. 8)

i agree and think it should be theres a lot of people who have the firearms and permission to shoot that lack the knowledge and experiance to do the job correctly and humanely.

I've had DS2 people out with me I wouldn't give a pop gun to, they gralloch about as well as a teckel! Something should compulsory, but it should not be 1&2 - they are about lining the pockets of certain organisations I am afraid. :001_rolleyes:

I'm going to Sweden soon to Shoot some Deer with my Shotgun.Although Shotguns probably don't work on Deer because its illeagle in the UK and there are not Qualifications for it.

I'll likely have the first round a #6,then a #4 followed by #2,then if its still running "000 Buck" then a Solid because its likely distant by then.

Following this thread (and subsequent meetings) I have just been offered the contract on 500ac of forestry with a Sika problem

It never hurts to ask!

How far south? Ive no access to Sika and apparently the taste nice?:sneaky2:

If you've space for a 2/3 completed DSC2 with 4x4 & tracking dog, that's happy to drag etc drop me a PM.

Hows woodlands going?
