Hitchclimber query

So I have been using my hitch-climber not in its full capacity, Ie just as a slack tending pulley, with the dead end of my rope clipping onto my harness' D. So I thought i'd try it properly. I don't have an eye in my rope, so I tie a big bowline, with deadend crab into the top hole and went for a climb.... Everything seems cool... until I want to give myself some slack in my system, say to advance out on a limb. With the other technique its very easy, but this way... the working end isn't as easy to work with. What am I doing wrong?

 

Does this make sense? Any help/tips?

Nope but will get one tmrw...

 

Im using VT not VTT, with 10 milli silverstreak, works great with the other way.. Maybe I should stick with that?

this is kinda true, but maybe its better?? atleast if you have a a piece of equipment be cool to know how to use it properly. then atleast you can make up your own mind ay.

How long is your v.t? Is it to stiff?

I have a short VT, just 5 wraps then 1 turn... It works great with the original usage. Ill take a picture today.

Hey Ben the hitch you used when I worked with you was the same as Regs . I'm sure of that . Whats made you change as it seemed to work really well ?
