Found it difficult myself to get my head round. I found if I got up level with where I wanted to be, then kicked off and grabbed where I sailed out to.

Find that easier than trying to struggle up while tending slack. My terminology is crap am sure more experienced men will maybe explain it a bit better.

use your side strop if and when possible for balance, either on the branch you are walking on or another close. Mostly its just finding a good position to advance and if you are not feeling balanced then try the other side of the branch or put the rope on the other side of your body etc. Some branch walks can be difficult but its just a matter of getting your balance and a little confidence. Your anchor point should also be as high as you can get it.

You could try this. If there are no limbs to get my lanyard onto I either choke a sling and run my SRT through a sling and revolver. This means I can use my pantin to get high enough to either lanyard in and then place another redirect above. Keep doing this until your where you want to be. Hope I've explained it right!
