I have the mcveigh parker catalogue here and Chestnut rail sawn posts (twin mortices) retail at £7.14 / metre + vat.

 

Chestnut cleft rails are £8.13/metre + vat.

slight difference between fenceing stakes and p&r

 

Last year I was buying ex wood yard at below £1 ea, 6ft mixed cleft & round, good stakes, if you look in a garden centre or diy store they are up to £2.50 ea

Hi has anybody got an idea of the retail value of peeled and pointed 1.8/75mm/100mm stakes in say 120 bundles thanks Tony

 

The last I bought were £1.25, no vat as not registered.

Down here we do a lot of chestnut, I went to Aberdeen once to look at a farm, all the trees were growing horizontal and the farming far too tough for a southerner so I settled back down here.

your absolutely bang on! Anything out in the open gets obliterated by the wind !

Shame you couldn't settle , I'm not a farmer but the market at Thainstones of Inverurie is a tremendous experience !!!
