Am looking for the leccy part that regulates the fuel flow into the carb on 18hp. vanguard, before I was I'll I had all the details, but they are lost in the desk somewhere. Briggs ordering system seems rather complex, seems that the little rubber tip to this part has perished and hence it won't work. Anyone help?

I guess you mean the fuel shut off solenoid that screws into the bottom of the float bowl. when you turn off the ignition the plunger goes up under spring pressure and shuts the fuel off from the main jet?

Is it a single steel bowl with the solenoid sticking up vertically or does it screw horizontally into a cast ally double bowl?

Of course it is,my brain was out of gear, or subaru was shorter to spell.

I have just stripped a 1999 14hp that had the big end bolts come loose,appart from that it showed little sign of wear, cross hatches in the bore were still clearly visible.

I've found that Briggsbits are the best source of Briggs and Stratton parts.

This is an "Anti-Dieseling Valve"

 

They are £100 to replace.

 

Its not actually needed, all it does is blank the mainjet off when the ignition is cut so the engine cannot run on when the sparks have been cut.

 

Snip the end of the plunger off with a hacksaw or cutting disc and replace it.

 

Your engine will run perfect and you save £100

 

A "Vanguard" engine is just a model brand name used by Briggs and Stratton

Usually Deonates that the engine is a v twin, has cast liners, fuel pump low oil cutoff etc etc.
