On reasonable ground, how many whips / bare root transplants could 1 man plant in a day with tubes, stakes and ties.

 

Ta.

 

I would say between 15-20 per hour, roughly 4 mins per plant, so about 100 per day depending on how much tea you drink!

The trouble is keeping the lads on this sort of planting work to get good at it- there seems to be a really high turnover of guys doing this sort of work, at least up our way. There's one local firm and whenever I see his guys doing roadside planting, I never see the same faces twice.

I did a week a couple of years ago as a complete novice, digging, planting, staking and tubing each sapling. Was up to just over 200 a day, but that was on fairly tough ground.
