Did anyone see the program last night about the Honister Slate Mine and the fight to gain planning permission for a 1 mile long zip wire, what did you think about the part, The Friends of The Lake District and Natural England played in the program?

I'd be interested in other peoples views on NE and the planning board. It was this kind of thing that made me move out of the Park. As for FoLD, no friends of mine!, but then the National Trust have a similar rep with locals.

Bunch of muppets, they put the 10mph speed limit on Windermere lake and look what that did for the area! I love living in the area but the people who run it are dicks!!

I to saw the program, in the very early hours of this morning! Living in a National Park as well we are bound by Natural England, The National Trust and The National Park. The Planning department have a very much if your face fits you can get away with it!!!

A tragic waste of a life in the program for someone who bought jobs and tourists to the area, only to thwarted by do gooders!

Best thing they ever did IMO.

The friends of the lake district don't have many friends who actually live in the lakes. National Park couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery from what I know of them. Ditto Hodge's post RE Windermere, the lake is dead now.

Long live the militant ramblers, killing off the areas they "love".
