A little advice about kindling....

How about just advertising in the paper with free delivery? Sell for 50p cheaper than the shops are selling it for.

It seems with the amount you're selling you could go straight to the public = better prices, payment on delivery.

Of course it'll use fuel and time... but a good way of getting out and about and I still think you'd make more cash this way.

The trouble as has been said with larger chains of stores is they will want very low prices and can take up to 2 months to pay you.

When you're producing 3 to 4 thousand nets a season that's the time to get into the stores.

Evening, Pembs real cycling, you need to find your key/unique selling point, as you will be going against credland firewood who sell thousands of kindling units all accross west Wales. Have you spoken with wood fuel wales yet, and might be able to help source funding through WEBS funding.

P.S. i still have a couple of cube of the unpopular poplar which makes good kindling. P.M. if you are intrested.

P.P.S Good luck

Actually I've been finding that my biggest competitor is CPL, not terribly difficult to undercut. My USP is that all my kindling is made from recycled timber rather than virgin wood.

I've seen the grants, they sound wonderful but I want to know that I can sell some product before I invest any more of my own money in it really.

Really appreciating the support everyone!

Cpl are widespread but not everywhere. You dont need many regulars to keep busy when you first start up. Gives you the chance to learn with smaller mistakes while you fine tune things. I dont know who your up against in wales but smg often seems to talk sense ( more than me anyway ) and sounds like he has good local knowledge. I dont remember ever supplying kindling to Wales or even being asked but just assumed Kindlet and co supplied that area.
