Personally I dont like the idea of any life support karabiner being out of view. I used to climb on a similar set up (minus the revolver krab) and opted for a pear shaped mallion attaching the pulley to the friction saver ring, and cranked tight with a spanner

just using what i had to hand,to see how it would perform :001_smile:

Totally agree and we are not supposed to use screwgates.:blushing:

Why not just buy a proper cambium saver with a pulley

Job sorted:thumbup:

those dmm belay masters are pretty safe imo, equally as safe as a 3way i'd argue, and with the added benefit that everything stays exactly where its meant to stay on the krab. Not that im advocating their use of course.

Jonny, you will lose that clip eventually....what i used to do with mine is drill a whole through it then tie wrap it to the krab

I am not saying they are unsafe but

Best practise says AUTOLOCKING and 3 way

I think its possible the pully in the DMM could fowl on the cheek of the main pully, therefore I wouldnt bother with that.

On mine I have cut out the small ring and connect the carab direct into the webbing loop. You do need to take notice of the radius of the carab you use though, it should not be small enough to affect the natural "lay" of the webbing.

Also, to note if you are to use this setup with these carabs, you need to absolutely sure when swinging on the axis of the saver, the gates cannot rub on either each other, or the stem.

I do use a system similar to your origional Johnny, but as the others say the pear shaped mallion would be safest to overcome the issues, just linking the pully on, possibly with the ring cut out and just use the big saver ring. Not fully friction free, but a massive difference to just using a plain cambium saver.:thumbup1:
