110 tipper...DVLA??

Alright men

 

Iam going to make my 110 into a tipper (because i cant afford a 130) before u ask , I want to know....do i need to 'reclassify' it on my V5 and get them to look at it?

I may not help but when I bolted the seat runners from a Galaxy into the back of the Steyr Puch Van (cos I could use the spare seats from our Galaxy) & fitted seat belts too btw.

I showed it to our local DVLA, at Coleraine, the lassie came out to the car park peered in and said, sure its only temporary:confused1:

I was registering the van as private light goods (i think?)

I then turned up for my first MOT, & I was booked into the HGV lane:lol:

It would be worth getting it reclassified due to the tax. If it's a tipper rather than a STD 110 it will be classed as a commercial vehicle so lower road fund licence

what did you do? get it converted then tell the dvla? to change it from a pick up to a tipper?

Yep.

It started out as a 110 hi-cap, now it is a tipper. I think the fact that it is 3050kg gross and a 1995 vehicle meant that the taxation class wasnt changed- still comes as PLG.

Same as mine 1995 Hicap, So what should i do, convert then get in touch with dvla? did it cost? was it hastle? do they just make sure its road worthy??

If you do decide to reclassify you could be required to provide an engineers report to prove the modification is up to standard.

 

When I did my 130 I used the existing bed but raised it by 2" to fit the tipping chassis. I spoke to someone at the DVLA and since nothing had changed with regards to position of lights, change in body shape/panels used, number of seats and the unladened weight change was minimal (approx 50kg) they weren't bothered

Don't think you'll need to,does your V5 say 4x4/light utility on the body type and PLG on the taxation class? if so nothing has changed!

 

When I converted a CSW to a pick up the MOT chap recommended that I inform the DVLA,which I did,they weren't overly interested and just asked for some pictures,Then amended the V5 body type to "Pick up " which was odd because I think all Hi-caps come under the 4x4/light utility body type,unless anyone knows different!
