Went to shire horse show and sale in staffordshire yesterday to look for a potential future logging horse, not many filly foals for sale but plenty of colts, ended up buying a cracking mare in-foal for a 1000 gns got her home today , really pleased its better than buying a new saw ! Still looking for 3- 4 yr old mare thats broken to chains . Guess most of you out there won't know what I'm talking about , but there are a few horse loggers about .

Just spoke to the moter-in-law after this thread popped up again yesterday. Sorry for the delay..

Her Dales came from a chap by the name of Claude Goby, of Swayfield. I'm afraid they've left Swayfield for pastures anew though, and we've no knowledge of where.

Totally useless, sorry...

Sorry for the late post , I have just registered today.

If you have already bought a shire then thats all good but if not I couldn't recommend a Dales pony highly enough. I have owned and worked one for 8 years now and there is nothing that will faze him.

They will cost a fraction of the price to keep than your shire and are alot more versatile hence their name ' The Great Allrounder ' .

Charlie Parker from Yorkshire or the Dales Pony Society would be a good first port of call.

Again if breed is not important Jim Johnstone from Auldgirth, Dumfries would be a good bet for an Ardennes or something of that ilk , I'm sure Jim would be up for a haggle!

Anyway hope that may be of some help and I hope you find something suitable soon :thumbup1:
