What's on your bench today?

Started on a 026 lacking power and generally a bit flat - sounds like me on a good day:lol:

Found the plug looked like it was overheating as it was a graphite grey colour and found the saw had been lean seized but was still running! The H screw was on 1/2 turn:001_rolleyes:

I have a spare parts MS260 with this saw so am robbing parts off it - reckon the cylinder may fit and will try it tomorrow.

The needle sprocket bearing is also shot and the oiler drive arm has snapped at some time!

The cylinder should fit spud. The 026 and the ms260 are almost exactly the same saw. Only one is motorslagen or something or other to do with machine beating

My 026 is currently getting a good schlagen - on account of its impulse line.

Hi Rich, it's not actually the saw - it's more that, having got the old line off, the part the dealer supplied me with as an impulse line isn't - it turns out they supplied me with a pre- 1997 fuel line instead, so I will now have to order a new part.

While I was at it, since the line was off by this stage, I tried sticking a thumb over the end and blowing down the other end - no leaks. However, stick it on the fitting and there's a leak at the point where it goes on the carb, so I suspect it's not cracked but there's a fitting issue, so I'm just hoping that when I go and complain to the dealer, and eventually get the correct part, I don't find the problem is with the carb fitting instead, leaving me needing a new carb. Just rather frustrating (although no swearing at it yet).

026 - 44mm cylinder

MS260 - 44.7 cylinder

Both have the same mounting but .70 of a mm does make a difference especially when youve rebuilt a saw and cant get it to run cos the compression is down and have to rebuild it again with the correct size piston.

I won't ask how you found that out - a set of verniers is a useful workshop addition:001_rolleyes::lol:

I did know of the difference in bore size - just Stihl competing with the 346XP changing from 45cc to 50cc, I know there were some changes in the design of the 024 on crank stroke but am thinking the 026/260 never changed but will fit the MS260 top end on today after checking the length of the cylinder......with my verniers:lol: and check the squish is OK.

Will fit the carb off the MS260 as the bore may be slightly different and the job should be a good un:thumbup:

Cheers for the suggestions anyway but I am already in the zone:thumbup1:
