the fiskars axes are IMHO one of the best out there, mine take a hell of a lot of abuse, and have stood up to it well, buy the dedicated sharpener from them, as it will help no end.

I have the older version of the x15 and the splitting axe. I rate them both highly, the small axe is used nearly daily in winter on scrub thinnings, delimbing small trees, hedgelaying and coppice work. I would by another without even thinking about it.

Mike im interested as to why you have had bad experiences with the plastic handled fiskars axes, as everyone i know who uses them really rates them?

I mainly use an Axe to pound in Wedges,I broke one Fiskars Axe on the first day and another one that replaced it shortly after.

I have used Axes with Yellow Plastic Handles and they worked well.

Never seen another hollow plastic one like the fiskars yet, you sure the yellow one you talking about is not a fibreglass one ?
