Anyone use a lockjack

Im thinking of buying the Lockjack Sport or Lockjack Twin. What im after is a review on them really from the people who use them,(if anyone uses them) i've never try'd one and am happy with the hitch i use, but i've always fancied one, so all feedback welcome.

I've got a spiderjack and I love it! It does take a while to get used to it but once you do its great!

i`ve got a sport and i love it, branch walking is a breeze, if you use a foot ascender and a hand ascender your off like a rocket. get one set you back a few notes though

Thats why i want some feedback on them really before i part with my money.

 

Is it true that its either you stop / go with it.? Cant really explain what i mean.

yeah it is but youll get use to it, i hold the rope under the lock jack and its fine.

With the spiderjack there is a friction stub which you operate with your thumb. With a little practice you can have very slick movements as fast or as slow as you want. A Dean suggested use a sling if you want it further away fro the harness for fut locking or thrusting.

this thread should be in the archives. it's come up a few times. i've had a LJ for a few years now, very happy with it, does need a stiff 11mm rope for more consistent steady performance. bit of a step up from your blakes hitch though. will take some time to readjust. can't comment whether the spiders better or not

just a thought mate i noticed you say you didnt get on with a VT from another thread,basically the lockjack is a mechanical VT so i would take that in to consideration as the climbing style you will have to adapt to get the most out of it will be the same as climbing on a vt.

No dont get on with V.T at all, not sure its because of the rope and hitch combination or just me, havent really fiddled around with it. Maybe i should try a bit more with the V.T before i get the lockjack then.
