Insurance for self employed coppice / charcoal / forestry worker

Hi

 

Can anyone recommend an insurance company that covers coppice work / charcoal making / woodland management / forestry.

 

I am trying to get a quote from my local NFU but they are struggling to understand what I do.

 

Their big concern is if I climb trees at work. I don't - but I don't want to be excluded from it either.

Mine is with NFU, they will just have to take all your details and send it to their underwritters to sort out, be very carefull as standard their felling height is limited to something like about 8meters and after lots (and i mean lots) of negotiations with their underwriters i have got mine extended to 27.5mtrs. I wonder how many farmers exceed the felling height!

 

other than that mine is just seperated into the different sections of my business, with percentage income each part generates and they will work you out a quote, but mine took over three weeks to get a quote out of them

Bryant&Kesek, reasonable prices and they cover all the work I do (including employers liability for occasional days with helpers) rather than putting arbitrary restrictions on tree height (as mentioned above) .

HI charlieh just got a quote off nfu it took 3 days mate but it just for my log insurance i find my nfu office nr me very good but thats just me thanks all jon

my office is very good, but its the underwriters if you want anything other than a standard off the shelf policy it takes some sorting out
