Having been able to read through the whole thread, I'm very interested in getting a 717a. However is there still the small problem of the retaining spring spring off if you try to refit it again??

 

I suppose there is always a chance, however I have only had this happen once for myself and I know of only One other time in the UK of this occurring.

The retaining spring that holds the gas pistons snug over the mounting post

is meant to be flexible. I find that using a small flat screw driver works very well and a little practice :thumbup1:

very easy to take off and put back on, just do it slowly, covering the spring with your other hand will stop it coming off though never happened when I have used it.

Hello fella, been thinking about you a bit last few weeks, Ive been messing about with a tool and its made me think there is a possible alternative extra market for you to promote in.

 

might sound daft till you see the lance these guys use!
