I have been wearing H4H wristbands since 2007ish. This isn't a "ooo look at me being a charity lad" thing, this is because I support the charity with all I have got, as do lots of other people my age. Don't tarnish all with your brush.

To support the charity you give them what you can afford, you don't need a wristband for this.

What is the point of the wrist bad if not to show others that you that you have given money??

Promotion. It can be a talking point, if it makes someone else donate then it is worth wearing.

watch this for a laugh, next time the teacher takes on a 'parent' role - your son could work out how to shift the balance to 'adult' ego role, and win the day with little effort.

:001_rolleyes:Teachers are in loco-perentis, so its their job to be the parent, to endeavor to undermine this is mindlessly stupid .

Bloody hell Huck you'll be knocking the poppys next :sneaky2:

You can give to the BL without the need to wear one.

I don't wear one very often, that does not mean I am not very grateful to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

It just seams a shame that these days every thing has to be made a show of, like when Diana died and everyone was out balling in the streets, its as if things are only real if people see them.

with more research you will discover that an 'adult' ego state is the role to achieved as a successful and contributing human.

its not an 'undermining' reaction - because that ego state is 'child' and only productive to strengthen the role of the abuser.

the 'loco-parentis' statement is not relevent in determining ego states.

Do you see a shrink???

I'm definately in the "teachers need our support and backup" camp on this one, though without wanting to call for more "evidence", I think there's only one of us here that knows the true situation, motivations, history etc.

I do donate to charities, about 10% of my income in fact, but I never wear poppies (think them rather tasteless, esp the really big ones on car grills) bracelets, ribbons or ought else.

I also never wear any clothes with brand names on unless I get paid for it, but that's a different matter.

I had a new headteacher when I was 16 and didn't like him, the dislike was mutual and before the year was over I was "kindly requested to leave and never return". My mum especially (the fierce dragon type) backed me up in my "battle for justice" whenever I thought I'd been treated unfairly.

Long story short- I never went back to finish any education, I'd not enjoyed school massively until that point, but not hated it either.

Though at the time I was gratefull for my mum's support I believe that if she'd left me to grovel and crawl in the dust for this bastard (he really was, he got fired and the end of the year) I might have stayed at school and got some of them bits of paper that employers seem to like so much.
