Petrol vs electric

[not for sale sorry]

so i am looking at getting a log splitter, it will be splitting arb waste only i dont have a huge budget, so cheaper the better really. would like it verticle beacuse of larger rings, i have been looking at the lawnflite that justin does but should it be petrol or electric i have power at my yard so my thort is electric would be cheaper to run and more quite but is 5.5 tons enough to split most wood?

I've no idea about running cost for electric machinery but petrol IME will be more up to the challenge but I haven't used said splitter

small electric is pretty tough but we found they overheated quite quickly if used hard and kept tripping out. This though may have been just our machine

I concure with likeit, You could grow out of an electric pretty quick, petrol would be my fist and only choice.

I have borrowed a small electric splitter that supposedly delivers 4 tons. I'm still having to do most of the splitting by hand.

If I was looking to buy I wouldn't consider anything under 7 tons.

We had a three phase sheppach 10 tonne ish we have converted it to a 11hp Honda. When 3ph was superb but now we can stall the engine. I would say get 10 tonne with 13hp honda we sometimes feel we could do with a bit more oomph.
