1.5t mini digger stump grinder attachments

Hi all. I was looking at getting a hold of a 1.5t mini digger and getting rid of my stump grinder. I was told that the stump grinder attachment may not work as well because the digger won't have enough power to make it worth while.

 

Any thoughts?

It really depends on how much flow you have if you are using the digger hydraulics, you can get an independent unit although at 200kgs, that is a bucketful!

yes flow rate is the key ,1.5 ton diggers are all i little short on that ,try and creep up a little to a 2.8ton as you can still tow with a 4x4 etc and have a better flow rate

dose anyone know how the grinders do on 3 tonne machines?

 

the one trouble i see is diggers are very wide compared to stump grinders.

Try talking to Universal Bingham or I believe that Laski do one to hang of your digger, but like previously said, flow is the key as is the weight.

Yeah I was thinking about the size but the 1.5t diggers are only a couple of inches bigger. Would a 2.8t fit on a normal plant trailer??

Only if the trailer weighs 700kg or less and you would need to travel any attachments in the towing vehicle

Like Pete says flow is the primary consideration.

 

Recently I used a modern bobcat mini with a bobcat flail, to put it bluntly it was a disappointment, while running the flail you couldn’t track or use the dipper arm, it would just about slew but even that needed a bit of finesse.

 

If you are going to use a grinder head on your own machine it would be possible to swap the pump for a tandem and have a pump dedicated to the auxiliary circuit.
