clinometer Iphone app- sorry me again trying to make money out of arborists!

Hi- basically I have been using before I got a clinometer my Iphone to measure heights of trees by using trigonometry. and from a recent post a arb talk member was interested in a app dedicated to measuring tree heights.

so ive been on the phone to a few app developers and submitted a rough idea to what I want, they have all quoted between 2-6k to make the app and then itunes takes 30%.

so my idea was selling the app for £1.30 and making £1 per sale. this means im going to have to find atleast 4000 arborists with Iphone willing to pay for a app.

so who would buy it?

and no im not hoping for 4000 replys on here.

also im wondering if anyone would be intrested in investing or sponsoring the app such as gusthards or jonsy's etc.

all input would be appreciated.

How do you see it working? Have you looked at the app called "How high or far"? I haven't used it much but it seems pretty straight forward.

Would yours be better? If not then you may struggle to get a return on your investment!

basically it works just like a clinometer using trig and will be deadly accurate, If i have enough intrest I will be talking to some web designers in the next week and will be in the app store soon!

Hi alot of people would buy it if it works but you could look at marketing to masses rather than just tree surgeons

Hi, thanks for your response, sorry to be niaive but who else would be intrested in such products?

A very good idea. I think you could charge at least double that for such a useful tool.

So maybe you would only need between 1000-2000 sales.

I know there is an android app that uses the same principal to measure heights.

In fact there are quite a few so I would assume there is onefor the iphone already out there.

Just look for something like 'smart tools' or 'advanced ruler pro'

Not saying it still wouldnt sell though.:thumbup1:
